At least when going between indexed color images. If it comes down to it, I'm not averse to writing a plugin or script, but this seems like something GIMP should be able to do inherently. no coincidence, its a testament to how well crafted GIMPs colour picker is. So! Is there any way to TURN OFF the behavior where GIMP remaps the indexed color, and just have it paste the exact same index value as what was copied? Well start with something nice and easy a colour scheme which contains. It's quite a nuisance and I'd love to just copy-and-paste the literal indexed color values. So if GIMP remaps the indexed color for a pixel to a different palette when pasting a tile, it renders that tile broken until I find what changed and fix the palette color it used. Given that, there may be identical colors in some palettes for technical reasons, but those identical colors *must* be treated as if they are distinct. A given 8x8 tile can only use colors from a single palette. Upload Image or Go ×Click
